Hello World,
So the reason that is the title is because yesterday in the middle of sacrament meeting, Brother Gilthorpe and his 3 year old daughter were sitting across from us and he started messing with her while she was coloring, and she turned and said rather loudly, "Don't do that you big ole' meanie!" I'm pretty sure the entire congregation burst into laughter.
So this week in Vidor, it has been Elder Lawrence's first week in the mission, and it's already going well. We got hit by a pretty sweet rain storm that we had to wait out on the Horton's porch. And also, we had a little miracle: we got a new investigator tracting. Her name is Peggy. When we found her she was in tears and shaking because she'd recently lost 40 lbs because she has a gambling problem and doesn't have any food. So, we ran down the road to a members home and she put together a bag of canned foods and peanut butter and jelly, and we ran it over. She burst into tears and we told her about our addiction recover program and our meetings every Tuesday. She cried even harder because she'd been praying for something like that. We told her we weren't gonna let go of her, and went back the next day. She was beaming when she answered the door. She had read some of the Book of Mormon we had left with her. And she's changing her life. She said she hasn't laughed this much around people in years. So it's just been a great week. Also, Skylar's baptism was postponed because it turns out that her Dad has not been ordained. So until further notice, we will be preparing Brother Moorman to receive the priesthood. Never a dull moment.
So this is Elder Lawrence. I kinda just took this because honestly I barely have pictures this week.
Also, here's a little bit of district meeting. Elder Jensen can't sit still so he sits in odd places while he teaches us.
Why live life and not laugh through it. I suppose I'll make up for my lack of pictures with something I was thinking about this week. It was about smiling. Did you know that it's ok to smile? Cause I didn't. I mean of course it was a total mental barrier, but yeah. We can smile. And it makes other people smile too. We should smile more often. At least I think we should. I dunno. If it makes you and others feel better, why not? Just a thought. Maybe I'm crazy. Anywho.
Love y'all,
Elder M. Wright
