Hello World,
Well we've had quite the week. First things first:
WE HAD A BAPTISM.
That is all.
jk LOL.
But for real though. This is Sister Jole Lacey. Her story is interesting.
Brother Smith (shown in white) and his family were baptized around four years ago, and when he told his mother (Jole) that he was taking the discussions, she warned him against them and said "they'll suck you in!" Well in January of this year, she was in a car crash where her car rolled five times, and while she had some injuries, there was a silver lining: Because of all the tests, they discovered that she has cancer. So she had to move in with the Smiths and during that time, she was able to learn about the church and began meeting with the missionaries. She stopped drinking tea, and continued to learn. Then, last week, we were talking to her, and she said that she had received her witness of the Book of Mormon, and wanted to be baptized before her surgery on the 24th! So we scrambled and made a baptismal program for Saturday, and now she is a member of the church!
SAY WHAT?!!
Yes. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
And her son was able to baptize her! What a day of joy. The spirit was almost tangible at the service and it was just a joyous occasion. But what does this go to show? I'll tell you: When you build your home on the principles of the Gospel, people can tell a difference. Just by living in the Smith's home, Jole noticed a difference. How can you ask for more? I can't.
So that was just a few hours of our week. But what a great few hours. There are so many other miracles everyday that I wish I could write, but it would take far too long. HOWEVER, I will share my Easter insight:
I was thinking about the Atonement yesterday, and thought of Adam and Eve. How they were like children and were in a state of innocence. And then, they broke the only rule they had. I don't know about you, but when I was little and broke a rule, I was distraught. How could I ever be forgiven or rebuild the damage that had been done. BUT, imagine the joy that Adam and Eve felt when they found out that they could be forgiven! Why don't we feel this joy all the time?! Christ made it so that we could be forgiven of our sins, so that we could overcome both physical AND spiritual death. So. Friends, family, and whoever else is reading this: Find joy in the atonement. Find joy in the remission of your sins. BE HAPPY. Because Christ lives. And He lives for us.
Love y'all,
Elder M. Wright
P.S. Speaking of child-like joy, here's Elder Mitchell. Love him.
