It's been a while. Far too long if you ask me.
First things first. I'm getting transferred. No idea where yet, but hey, the adventure continues. Elder Nikolaus and I are being split up and not only that, being flushed out of Baytown South. I'm excited to have another adventure.
This week had no shortage of miracles. Investigator story:
Elder Rice and I had the opportunity to help a now potential investigator move into her apartment complex while we were on exchanges. This woman had been going through many trials and decided to move out to be closer to her family who then ditched her and she was left with just us and a ward member to assist her with her move-in. We put together her furniture, helped her move the heavier things and made her home just a little better. But the blessing came when at the end of the day, we were about to part ways, and I had the prompting to ask her if she would like us to dedicate the home. She was overcome and began to cry immediately. As we knelt in humble prayer, we asked our Heavenly Father to consecrate the home as a holy edifice where family can worship and prepare to live together in the eternities. We gave her a Bible and a Book of Mormon, and she came to church the next day.
Next, meet Robin:
He's a local member who has done more for us in the way of rides, meals, help, bike repair, wisdom, helping teach and just about anything else, than I could have ever expected. He's been through a lot in his life, but loves the church and loves the missionaries. I cannot thank him enough for opening his home to us. He's a gun smith and he builds motorcycles from scratch. He also holds two national and an international titles in black powder shooting with a gun that he made himself. So basically he's one of the most fascinating people ever. But what makes Robin important is his wife and the miracle that we have seen through her. She is not a member and they have been attending Second Baptist for her and then sacrament meeting at our ward for him. Two weeks ago, we decided to pray for Sister Snodgrass in every prayer we said and then fast for her on Sunday that her heart might be opened. This Sunday, Robin had the impression to go to the Bishop's office where they told him that they had just been thinking about him and called him to be the Sunday School secretary which would require him to be at all of church. When his wife learned of this, she said, "well then let's just go to your church." What a miracle. What a testament to the power of prayer and fasting, and God's hand in not just the work, but people's lives.
As I leave Baytown, if only the past two experiences were all I had to show of my work here, I would be happy. But the Lord has blessed me with so much more here than I can even share through these emails. I know without a doubt that this is exactly where I need to be and that God is right behind me every step of the way. It is evident in every hour of every day out here.
Thank y'all for your love and support, and I look forward to talking to you next week.
Love y'all,
Elder M. Wright
P.S. Robin convinced me that I need to buy a gun and a motorcycle when I get home. Even gave me three good starter bikes where my feet will be able to touch the floor.
P.P.S. Robin, who is about as gentle as a bear, has THIS dog named Rosa:
