I'm in the MTC.
So it's been good. The classes are really great, and my teachers are really great. But hey, more importantly, I'm a missionary.
It's been really great. It's stressful, and hard, and REALLY tiring, but it's all great. You spend about 10-12 hours a day in your classroom. Three hours are done with one teacher, Brother Kezele, and the other three are with Sister Hudson. Brother Kezele served in the Baltic Mission, and Sister Hudson served in San Diego. They are both excellent teachers, and our district has noticed that we seem to be a little more prepared than some of the others. 4-6 hours are spent studying, both personally and in your companionship.
My district is great. It's a very diverse group. There's 8 of us,and no sisters. I haven't decided if that's good or bad yet...
Five of us are all going to Texas together, and three of us are going to Gilbert, AZ. WE HAVE AN ENGLISH GUY. He's 6'3, and super chill. (don't worry, there's lots of pictures.) His older sister also came in on the same day, ans she's serving in Denver Colorado North. But she could barely pronounce it correctly. He's serving in Gilbert, so I will be sad to see him go. Our district leader is Elder Thibadoux. He's a great guy. He's 26, and was in punk and metal bands, and went on tour a few times as a drummer. Now he looks clean cut in a suit (minus the un-closed gague holes) but underneath, he's got a few tattoos that he's not aloud to talk about.
My companion is an 18 year old soccer player from Seattle, and he's pretty hysterical. He has a really unique sense of humor and we get along really well.
We have two investigators. The first is named Dulce. She's a mother and wife and LOVE's her family. She's very sweet, and very open which is nice. We've gotten her to pray and read the BOM, and now she's coming to church. LIV. our other investigator is RUSSIAN. Like hardcore barely understandable RUSSIAN. She's 26 and a seamstress, and we were referred to her by her best friends husband. She was here for a year on a foreign exchange program, and has since come back and is working till she figures out what to do. And she's just hilarious. We tried to talk to her about eternal families, and she was like "well, I don't know that I would want to live with them forever. And I don't know if my brothers will be in heaven. I am pretty sure Vladimir is going to hell." She's just awesome and we're meeting with her again tomorrow.
Your day is planned all the way till bedtime. You only get 30 mins to eat breakfast, and 45 for lunch and dinner. The food isn't too bad. It's just like Cannon food. But, I see Elder Brenton Jackson at every meal and all over the place which is nice. Overall, life is good, it's frustrating because you set standards for yourself that you can't achieve, and then you get angry when you don't. It's very humbling, and you really learn what your capable of. But the work is a greater reward. Hearing Dulce pray for the first time, and talking to her about the spirit is really worth every 6 AM alarm, and 6 hours of studying. I'm happy.
ALSO, next week, I'll be in TEXAS. So that's where my email will be. I'll tell you all about it.
Below is a picture of my name tag (and a beautiful tie bar) and my district. Yes. We are incredibly attractive and Photogenic. More to come in following emails. Love you all .
